Veerayatan, located at the foot of the Vaibhavgiri hills, amongst the lush green hills of Rajgir is the holy land of Lord Mahaveer, Sadhana centre of Rashtra Sant Pujya Gurudev Upadhyay Shri Amar Muniji Maharaj, the creativity place of Pujya Acharya Shri Chandanaji Maharaj and the pilgrimage for the devotees. The site, which covers an area of 40 acres, is rich in its historical heritage where the undercurrents of Jainism, Buddhism and Vedic religion meet.

The name itself is an amalgamation of two words “Veer” (Lord Mahaveer) and “Aayatan” (his place which is very holy). Thus Veerayatan means the holy land of Lord Mahaveer.

Veerayatan was started in Rajgir to give importance to the land of Lord Mahaveer’s 11 Chaturmas. 24th Teerthankar of Jain religion, Lord Mahaveer was born in Lachhuar a place in Dist. Jamui Bihar. He attained nirvana at Pawapuri, Dist. Nalanda, Bihar. Mahaveer’s 11 ‘Chaturmas’ took place in the ‘Gunsheel Udyan’ located in the Vaibhavgiri hills valley, Rajgir. His 3 ‘Chaturmas’ took place in Nalanda. Rajgir is also a nirvan place for 11 ‘Gandhars’ (desciples) of Lord Mahaveer. 4 kalyanaks of 23rd Teerthankar Muni Surat Swami also took place in Rajgir. Dhanna, Shalibhadra, Maitarya, Megh Kumar, Nandi Sen, Arjun Mali, Sudarshan, Punya Shravak, Jambu Swami, Prabhav, Acharya Shyambhav, Acharya Vajraswami and many other holy people are related to the historical fame and glory of Rajgir.

Veerayatan is trying, in its humble way, to serve the humanity. It has relentlessly served the mankind under the most trying times and difficult circumstances, continuously since 1973.
